About the Ranch
Sidebar S Ranch is located in Hood County, Texas about 90 miles from Dallas. The ranch is approximately eleven miles from Granbury to the North and eleven miles from Glen Rose to the South. The ranch is actually in Paluxy Texas. Fossil Rim Wildlife Park and Rough Creek Lodge are both about eleven miles to the South and Dinosaur State Park is three miles from the back gate of the ranch.
The ranch has multiple elevations offering terrific panoramic views of the country side from the high points on the ranch. Look Out Post casita offers beautiful views and the casita also has a rock fireplace as well as rocking chairs for ultimate relaxation. Another casita, Fishing Shack, offers shade for those fishing at Jenna Pond. Two other large ponds, Jordan Pond and Jason Pond, offer up large mouth bass for the fishing aficionado. There are a total of twelve ponds on the ranch.
The ranch was purchased in 1990 and had no improvements other than a sixty year old perimeter fence, some cross fencing, and some worn out old ranch roads. Over the years vast improvements have been made including a 4500 square foot owner’s home, a ranch hand home, a 2500 square foot horse barn with eight stalls and storage. There are working pens and two horse arenas.
In 2007 the ranch was game fenced and now enjoys many more whitetail deer as well as a new herd of red deer. Other wildlife includes wild turkey, road runners, humming birds, quail , dove, red fox, coyote, bobcats and an occasional mountain lion and various ducks in the winter. The ranch supports a small cow/ calf population as well as riding horses.
